A slice of our history

One hundred and fifty years ago today was the battle of Sharpsburg. I was nine years old when we went to Virginia, I remember going to sharpsburg, seeing the church with blood stains on the floor, walking through the corn field, and walking down bloody lane, and I remember it very well! I love history, mainly on the war for southern independence and I hope one day the southern soldiers who went to fight  to try to preserve their freedom will not be seen as traitors but heroes!

I've always thought it strange that the people who fought in the Revolutionary war were honored, but the people who fought for the South in the civil war were portrayed as traitors, when for real they were fighting for the same thing.

“Every man should endeavor to understand the meaning of subjugation before it is too late… It means the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern schoolteachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the war; will be impressed by the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit objects for derision… It is said slavery is all we are fighting for, and if we give it up we give up all. Even if this were true, which we deny, slavery is not all that our enemies are fighting for. It is merely the pretense to establish sectional superiority and a more centralized form of government, and to deprive us of our rights and liberties.” – Gen. Patrick Cleburne C.S.A. Jan 2 1864

I'm so thankful to my parents for homeschooling me so that I might know the true story of our history and not just what ever comes out of a public school text book.
